Delivered by DeVA Partner, Teignbridge CVS. This workshop looks at Asset-based (also known as strength-based) Community Development is an approach to sustainable community-driven development.

By asking what’s already working, and what strengths and resources already exist, a strength-based premise is that communities can respond to challenges themselves and drive development processes by identifying and mobilising often unrecognised assets and strengths. These strengths and resources can be defined broadly, and may include: people, buildings, skill-sets, equipment, location and natural resources, beliefs, financial resources, community relationships and health.

What you’ll learn

  • What ABCD is
  • How to identify resources and strength available within a community
  • How you can get local people more involved in your organisation’s work
  • How a community can move towards building relationships and making the most of their resources
  • Ways to make ABCD work in your neighbourhood
